N-Gage Operating System

The N-Gage Operating System is based on the Symbian Operating System, developed by the Symbian Ltd. Specifically designed for mobile phones, the Symbian OS offers to phones a powerful, advanced and open framework, specifically designed for hand held devices. The applications is integrated and powerful enough to create a flexible environment, suitable for mobile telephoning and for bringing forward the management of data in a mass market. Ideal for smart phones, the Symbian OS has been known for having a major share in the market. Launched for the first time in 2001, the first Symbian OS phone was Nokia 9210.

Since then, the N-Gage Operating System has come a long way with the later versions offering even more flexibilities. Thus the latest product in the series, namely, the Symbian OS 9.5 being almost 75 per cent faster than the earlier versions.

This N-Gage Operating System is known for catering to large number of smart phones, with some of the leading mobile manufacturers as its client. Besides the N-Gage series, the Symbian OS is used in other Nokia phones as well, such as Nokia E60, Nokia E61, Nokia N81, Nokia 6110 Navigator, nokia 3250, Nokia 6682, Nokia E51, Nokia E90, Nokia N70, Nokia N75, Nokia N95, Nokia 9300, Nokia 7710, Nokia N93 and Nokia 6630, among others. The Symbian OS is known for catering to more than 110 million mobile phones the world over. The latest version of this N-Gage Operating System offers more than 70 features providing one of the most powerful back up systems to mobile phones. With a special feature which guards the operating system against memory leakage, the system is known for conserving memory or RAM space. While it is mostly based on C++ language, it is compatible with other languages as well, with some of them being Visual Basic, Perl, Python, OPL and Java applications. It thus probably owns 67 per cent of the total market share, with some of its competitors being Android, Windows Mobile, Palm OS and Ovi, among others.

The latest version of the Symbian OS is known for having a longer battery life and much more faster than its earlier versions. It enables in the smart phones the most essential feature for multi-tasking with special back up for heavy data information. While the system enables the transfer of data information into different media formats, it is due to this operating system that the camera facilities are even more enhanced in smart phones. While the database is much more scalable, the look and feel that the Symbain OS offers is much more fulfilling and satisfying for the customer. Some of the other phone models which are using the same N-Gage Operating System are Ericsson R380, Motorola, Samsung, FOMA, Mitsubishi and Fujitsu, among others. The Symbian OS, however, has been known to being inflicted by numerous viruses, with some of the most harmful ones being Cabir, Mabir.A, Drever.A, Locknut.B and Frontal.B, among others. Most of these viruses are transferred via the Bluetooth. Nevertheless, this N-Gage Operating System is known for being one of the most popular and important back-up systems for smart mobile phones all over the world.
